Jim Harbaugh taking Michigan to Normandy, Paris next year

Fresh off a visit to Rome in April, the Michigan football team will head to Paris and Normandy with head coach Jim Harbaugh next spring.

Harbaugh confirmed the itinerary during Big Ten Media Day on Tuesday, a clear indication that he plans to make this an annual tradition.

While in Rome (pun intended), Harbaugh met with Pope Francis and sang opera. It was a trip that said to cost north of $800,000. Though, a private unnamed donor foot the bill for the trip.

Outside of getting young players away from the day-to-day grind, these trips can act as a life experience and an educational adventure for them.

The trip to Normandy itself promises to bring a ton of emotion to those who have not yet visited the hallowed World War II battle site.

We really should give Harbaugh credit for going away from the grain here. It can definitely build chemistry for the team. More than that, it serves as a great experience for the players.
